A rare stone monument built into the corner of a building

Site of Shijimigawa River and Shijimibashi Bridge
1-1-49 Sonezaki Shinchi , Kita-ku, Osaka

This is the site of the Shijimigawa River, which ran in an east-west direction in Kitashinchi until the late Meiji period. With teahouses along the river during the Edo period, visitors would enjoy boating and watching geisha singing and dancing at nearby establishments, making it a truly refined spot. Incorporating the history of the city into a part of the building is a wonderful way to preserve its memory.
