The origin of Gote is filled with unique Osaka flavor

Gote Jizo
2-16-14 Sonezaki , Kita-ku, Osaka

The origin of the name Gote comes from the Japanese word for “complain.” A jizo statue unearthed during the construction of the Sonezaki Police Station in 1929 was treated as a nuisance. One accident after another caused the locals to think that the jizo was complaining, and it was enshrined on this spot. Ever since, it has been beloved for bringing good fortune and warding off bad luck.
