【A monument to the Temma Fruit and Vegetable Market and the Yodogawa River Sanjikkoku Bune song】
Temma 3 (In Minami Temma Park) , Kita-ku, Osaka

This monument marks the spot of the Temma Fruit and Vegetable Market, which was here until the early Showa period. Food from all across the Kinki region was carried here by boat on the Okawa River (former Yodogawa River), supporting Osaka, known as “The Best Kitchen Under the Sun” during the Edo period. Just next to this spot is a monument with the words of a traditional song about the coastal scenery as sung by sailors making the trip in large boats between Fushimi in Kyoto and Osaka. A picture of a boat decorates the middle of the monument.

This song is always sung during performances of the rakugo drama Sanjikkoku.
