This Protestant church was built in 1879. Its first minister was Pouro Sawayama, the first to be ordained in Japan. The current building, which was finished in 1929, was constructed using strong Nakamura-style reinforced concrete (aka: Chin Block) designed by Chin Nakamura and is designated by the Japanese government as a registered tangible cultural asset. A new pipe organ was installed in autumn 2021, and the church is sometimes rented out for classical concerts.
