The bridges spanning the path running from west to east appear in a climactic scene from Chikamatsu Monzaemon’s “The Love Suicides at Amijima,” representing the feelings of the lovers heading to commit double suicide. It is here that Sakurabashi Bridge, which appeared in the scene, was located.
