Located on the grounds of Dojima Avanza, the Yakushido Hall has been on this site since the days of Prince Shotoku, and legend has it that the name of the area came to be called Dojima because it is an island (shima) with a hall (do). The hall was reborn as a modern mirrored sphere when Dojima Avanza opened in 1999. Priests from Yakushiji Temple in Nara visit to chant sutras during Buddhist services twice a month and during the setsubun ritual in February.
