This private art museum houses the collection of the late Yoshiro Kitamura, showcasing Namban art and Christian artifacts in an elegant two-story building. The collection features interesting pieces that demand a careful look, such as the folding screen depicting scenes of early European visitors to Japan by Mitsunobu Kano (designated as an important cultural property), a lacquer and mother-of-pearl table decorated with flowers and birds handed down by the Date Clan, and a Luzon teapot (once belonging to the Hosokawa Clan). The home of Kaoru Morimoto, the playwright famous for A Woman’s Life, was located on the south side of the building.
