“Rape blossoms, the moon in the east, the sun in the west.” This poem engraved on the monument composed by Buson Yosa from Kema is a nostalgic one dedicated to memories of playing in vast fields of these flowers as a child. Ichizo Kobayashi, the founder of the Hankyu Group, was fond of Buson’s heartwarming haiku, and his final project was building the Umeda Koma Theater, the predecessor to the Umeda Arts Theater. The monument noting Buson’s birthplace, and the poem monument are located on the Yodogawa riverbed (Miyakojima-ku) near the Kema lock gate.
