Until it was eliminated during restoration work on the Yodogawa River during the Meiji period, the Nakatsugawa River was crossed by ferries which used this mystical camphor tree as a landmark. Great care was taken to avoid harming the tree when building the Nagara Canal. Although there is no sign marking the spot, it is easily noticeable thanks to its mysterious aura.
