  • Heihachiro Oshio stood up for the starving masses of Osaka. His position in the government of Osaka was equivalent to a current day police sergeant or public prosecutor.

Joshoji Temple is the family temple of the Oshio clan. During the Edo period, the temple was forbidden to erect graves for Heihachiro and his son Kakunosuke as they launched a rebellion against the Tokugawa shogunate, but Oshio’s disciples later built graves in the Meiji period out of admiration for their teacher.

Heihachiro Oshio stood up for the starving masses of Osaka. His position in the government of Osaka was equivalent to a current day police sergeant or public prosecutor.
