Following in the footsteps of the Shin-Osaka Hotel, which was built in Nakanoshima in 1935 and hailed as one of Osaka’s most famous hotels, this building opened in 1965. There are two famous spots at the RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka. The first is the Leach Bar on the first floor, which was built thanks to a connection between CEO at the time Tamesaburo Yamamoto and the Mingei art movement. The pottery, prints, and dyes of Bernard Howell Leach, Kanjiro Kawai, Shoji Hamada, Shiko Munakata, and Keisuke Serizawa are exquisitely arranged throughout the bar, bringing about a wonderful sense of harmony. The second famous spot is the first floor Main Lounge, through which runs a stream and overlooks a waterfall in the Japanese garden outside. Designer Isoya Yoshida’s amazing spatial configuration allows visitors to enjoy the babbling of a brook while taking in the views of famous paintings by Ryohei Koiso and Narashige Koide. Although there are luxury hotels all around the world, these two famous spaces can’t be found anywhere else, nor can they be replicated.
