Osaka University Nakanoshima Center opened in 2004 at the birthplace of Osaka University (former site of the Faculty of Medicine), which began as Tekijuku, founded by Koan Ogata. With lectures and seminars open to the public, the Center serves as a hub for promoting academic information. The Osaka University Faculty of Medicine served as the inspiration for Toyoko Yamasaki’s novel The White Tower.
