A bridge that tells of the history of a mellow neighborhood

げんぱち Gempachibashi Bridge
Temmabashi 2 – Nakanocho 4 , Kita-ku, Osaka

Until Gempachibashi Bridge was completed in 1936, the only means of transportation was a boat known as Gempachi Crossing. Because haiku poet Yosa Buson from Kema also used the boat, one of his haiku is engraved into the railing of the bridge. In springtime, the cherry blossoms along the Okawa River, which runs under the bridge, turn the nearby area into a dreamy world of pink.
