The current twin bridges were built in 1935 based on designs solicited from the public, something that was rare at the time. They look the same despite their different lengths, and the dignified balconies and newel posts were designed to match the look of Osaka City Hall at that time, which was completed in 1921. Both bridges are designated as important cultural assets.
