Originally known as Dojimagawa Kadoseki, a dam to clean the rivers inside the city of Osaka was built in the early Showa period, this structure was turned into a pedestrian bridge once its purpose was served. Lights illuminate the surface of the water at night, making it particularly beautiful when viewed from Oebashi and Hokonagashibashi bridges. This is one reason why it is called “Suisho” (crystal). Another comes from a name given in the hope of prosperity for Osaka.
